Our last morning in Bangkok feels a bit sad. We have loved it here and feel familiar with the general way of life, the smells, the contrasts and the sensational street food. Thailand was so much cleaner than I expected. from my vague memories, on an over night stay here, I recall dogs and monks and poverty and it appears to have changed. There is still obvious poverty.

On our "farewell" walk today to Lumpini Park, I asked if I could take a lady's photo. She was selling peacock feathers and feather dusters. She asked for 20 Baht for the privilege, which i didn't mind in the least, but that may well be a significant portion of her income today.

Peacock feathers, anyone? |
We wandered down "cat alley" and said adieu to the cats. Even though we were late to the food court, there was a bag of doughnuts waiting for us - 20 Baht - bargain! The bougainvilleas are all in bloom around Lumpini Park and there are park guards tootling about on their bicycles. What a lovely haven from the traffic of Bangkok!

Then Luke wanted to have his daily stick of pork from his favourite "pork ladies" and I was keen to have one last fabulous Bubble Tea at Amarin Centre where they make them sugar free.

After doing a few last minute packing things, we headed to the wonderful pool here for a cooling dip before the trek to the airport. We have thoroughly loved Bangkok and I hope I can convince Karl to have 5 days or so here on the way back to Australia later this year!
