2 January 2015 - A rest day of sorts ...

Well, we declared today a “rest day” but to be honest by the end of the day, Luke’s crazy behaviour certainly didn’t give me a rest day.  Karl managed to do a fair bit of his online course and I seemed to battle with the kids!

However, all was not lost.  As Tim and Luke were up I early, we went for a walk to Lumpini Park to kick the football.  We ended up doing a little bit of footy kicking but we had a great walk around the track along with the hundreds if not thousands of locals doing the same.  The Central Park of New York attracted similar levels of activity.  It was wonderful to see all the little Tai Chi classes/groups  and early morning picnickers with their flasks of tea. We saw the swimming goannas, many birds and tropical trees.  The food court was buzzing with activity and we bought 5 doughnuts for 50 Baht.  The relative cool of the early morning was indeed refreshing.  Armed with some fresh and hot fried chicken we returned to the condo.  Annika was still asleep and Karl still at his laptop so it was great to have been out.

After the big kids taking turns to occupy Luke at the pool and gym, he was still eager for activity.  After undoing the majority of Annika’s 36 hair braids with the aim of relieving her headaches, she settled in for a quiet day.

The boys and I explored the adjacent street, past the Embassy of the Netherlands and back to Soi Lang Suan to discover the Ville Market which is a small but well stocked supermarket, similar to an IGA.  We bought flour and Annika made us pancakes for lunch with chocolate syrup.

Towards evening, Annika and I went to Nee Sun Massage just around the corner.  We had spied it several times and as it is off the main street, the prices were cheaper.  Annika had a lovely head and shoulder massage for 300 Baht and she paid for me to have a Traditional Thai massage for 250 Baht.  The Thai Massage was wonderful, like a long chiropractic session with the lot for a much reduced fee.  I felt terrific.  It was sort of special getting into the pyjamas provided and lying back for pampering – a rare but much appreciated treat.
Massage just around the corner...cheaper than on main street.

Dinner was a bit short of veggies as we hadn’t bought any more and meat was a few preserved sausages from 7-11 – but we survived!!  I have nearly mastered my blogsite and I’ll be able to upload it soon.  Tim was very keen for me to use a website created by him but the html was all a bit more complicated than I wanted, so I am going with simple.
