Today we tried something usually associated with cooler
climates than hot Bangkok: Ice skating!
Karl and I discovered it the other evening in Centre World and made the kids guess what
the mystery activity would be!! As
teenagers, they seem to need more than just history and temples and “drinking
in” the culture. Even Luke who is
usually reticent to try new things gave ice skating a go with the help of a
plastic seal for support. What a claim
to fame – “I first tried ice skating in Bangkok!” A very good way to spend a morning and not
too costly at 260 Baht ($10 AUD) for 1 ½ hours and skate hire!

Annika and I had planned and booked a visit to a hairdresser in the little market community where we buy our veggies. We bought our Pad Thai lunch from the dear old lady we have bought from before. Her sweet elderly mother insisted I sit on a stool. Lovely.
We went back to the hairdresser who had increased her prices since quoting us on Sunday! We went to the alternate hairdresser a few shopfronts down the market and were so glad we did. The very lovely lady, Tata, there did a fantastic job on Annika's hair: washing, cutting, straightening, styling with great care and perfection all for 200 Baht ($8 AUD) - such pampering would never be part of a regular service in Australia. She took the same degree of care with my hair. We walked out of the "salon" feeling like we had really been pampered and treated like royalty.
Later in the afternoon, when the troops were getting restless, we had a family excursion to Big C for shopping which is always interesting and came away with some essentials and some extras!
