We had arranged to meet Annika's friend, Dimity, and her aunt with whom she is travelling at Warwick Avenue tube station. Rendezvous successful!! We had decided to take them down our favourite tracks to show them a bit of "our" London!

Green algae takes over! |
So it was down along the Regent Canal to say hello to Mrs Coot and
Junior and all the green algae! It seems that Mrs Coot has quite a
following of regular visitors and we are all keeping an eye on Junior
and on the eggs she's incubating.

Guess who found fossils at Paddington Station |
And then off to Paddington to see the famous bear at
Platform 1 before making our way to Kensington Gardens and "Squirrel
Headquarters". Initially we thought the squirrels were not going to
comply. We usually walk down there in the early evening when they are
out foraging. However, after hearing a rustle in the trees one after
another little squirrel came down to feed from our hands and we had 4
little cute friends gingerly grabbing the nuts, racing away to eat them
and then coming back for more before long. Passersby stopped to admire
their cuteness, too!

Cheeks full of nuts sitting up in the tree! |
After morning tea in the shade of the big trees near the Italian
fountains, we trekked to Hamleys. It was Monopoly board walk along Park
Lane to Oxford Street, Bond Street and Regent Street and finally to
Hamleys.

Lion and Unicorn - Hyde Park |
The kids' eyes lit up and were happy to show Dimity around.
Dimity loved it and didn't want to leave but they were off on a Harry
Potter tour and then leave tomorrow. We have had the luxury of time to
drink in "London living" and take our time to explore and even go back
to places we have really loved.

It was good to be back home before too late so we had time for card games and a bit of down time instead of rushing straight to dinner preparation, baths, etc. It was a lovely day!
how lovely to see another familiar face :) Wow, I can't believe your 7 weeks in London are coming to a close! It seems to have flown by reading of your daily adventures. I bet you are all ready for some fresh country air. K xo
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is excellent to see people from home and we are ready to move on to less crowded places! Thanks for the weekly One to one link. It is great to feel we are still in touch with all the happenings.
DeleteWhat a fun day to meet up!! Your time in London has gone fast, but you've done and seen so much!! :)
ReplyDeleteI am glad you had a great day with Dimity. I'm sure she enjoyed being with all of you. Thank you for the photos. Three weeks in Europe and we haven't received pictures of the travellers.
