21 July 2015 - Banbury Museum

It was an early morning to time a Skype call with Tim's teacher.  Tim felt reassured by the call and was also encouraged.  While I was in a Skype sort of mode, I spoke to my parents which was nice!

Under the bridge and on its way, Banbury, Oxford Canal
The kids all wanted come on the morning walk to Tesco - fun sort of excursion ?!!!  Well, what makes it fun is the walk along the canal where there are always ducks and long boats and canal activity.  As Tim is doing one of his school projects on the history of the canals, he was keen to take some more video footage.  The mornings and late afternoons are busy on the canal as the long boats are moving on or taking up their moorings.  It is lovely watch the little boats rock up on the filling water and then simply chug along on their way.

Banbury Museum and lock model

After a frustrating time schooling, we all went to the little but lovely museum here which is built over the canal so you can watch the canal traffic as you wander along. The museum is well done and gives a potted history of Banbury.

In 1600's Banbury was famous for being a centre for Puritans.

...and woe betide you if you trespassed!

Vicotiran school puzzle - and that's shot not snot at the bottom of the puzzle!

Lovely little ladybird

The geese were making more noise than the donkeys.

More bees and thistles!

Exploring the canal path

Home through the park.
Our walk today took us along the canal path towards Rugby.  I hadn't realised that people live so far along the canal.  We finally came to a map and a sign to Cherwell Lake which we'\ll explore soon.  I enjoy rambling by the canal and checking the flowers for interesting bugs!
