The tricky thing about travelling all night is that you never know when the previous day finishes and the new day begins. Pin's mother met us at the "Grand Lang Suan Condominium". The “Condo” is lovely and
very spacious and comfortable and luxurious and looks like the photos on the airbnb promotion!!
So far, airbnb has been great and good for us, the budget travellers!
Soi Lang Suan is a long 4 laned one way road with Lumpini Park at one end and Chit Lom Station at the other end. It has a fair volume of traffic including motorbikes, taxis, tuk tuks and other vehicles. It has many high class hotels and banks nearby and so we feel totally grand staying here! There is always a smiling concierge on duty at the front desk.

The side streets have little
cheap shops and food carts but the main street is a banking street and in a
“good” area. We wandered around a bit
dazed having not really slept on the bus.
We walked down to Lumpini Park, a fabulous large park, described as Bangkok's answer to Central Park, New York! Most notable were
the swimming goannas in the lake. They
looked like alligators! We saw one
licking out a tortoise shell….there are lots of tortoises in the lake too.

We walked back through the
narrow market/residential laneways drinking in the ambience. We bought some veggies and bananas of
course! Tim braved a 70 Baht haircut
which was done with great care and looks terrific. We walked back on one side of the street
because the power lines and cables hang precariously low on the other side! You can never tell if there might be a live
wire!

We happened upon a free
classical concert by the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra so Karl and I left the kids
at the condo watching a movie and went to the concert. It was truly lovely and featured Mozart,
Strauss, Vivaldi and others and was introduced in Thai and English. It was a balmy evening and I had to pinch
myself several times about being in Bangkok, in a beautiful park, with Karl,
listening to wonderful classical music, reminiscent of our summer courting days
at the Myer Music Bowl free concerts.

We were quite tired after our sleepless night on the bus. We all settled relatively quickly apart from Luke who had managed a champion 9 hours sleep on the bus! It is good to have been in Thailand for a couple of weeks as we know that in general sizzling hot food is fine for consumption and 7-11 stores abound. The fried chicken or pork from street carts, sticky rice and home wok cooked Asian greens and a few chopped up carrots and cucumbers are our standard fare. Bananas and Lady fingers are delicious and readily available . Simple but filling!
