Boxing Day! Poor Tim woke feeling sick and wanting to
vomit. We went over what we ate
yesterday and we’re not sure what the culprit is. In the meantime he can rest and sip lemonade
hopefully make a quick recovery. It is quite safe in the apartment for him just to rest. The
internet is still not working in the apartment and it is quite frustrating to
have to go to reception to get emails, etc.
Karl, Annika, Luke and I couldn’t resist another walk to the
beach we were at yesterday...and a swim. A 20 minute walk up and down a few steep hills and we were in paradise!

The water was amazing and
clear and JUST SO ENJOYABLE! Only a
handful of people on the whole beach!
Somehow we got talked into sitting at the Ship Inn Bar again and
drinking fruit smoothies while the tide came in and started receding
again. Today all 9 of the tables at the
small and wonderful little beach spot were taken – a busy day apparently. It is one of those places that you want to
tell everyone about but want to keep secret at the same time. The charm of this place is the simple
uncrowded bit of paradise with no shops or jet skis, just peace.

Today marks the 10th
anniversary of the devastating Tsunami which destroyed much of this coast. To look at the verdant jungle and the
buildings around, there is no evidence of destruction now. We see an occasional “Tsunami Evacuation
route” sign but that is all that remains.
I could snap beautiful photos
for hours and it is so hard to choose a suitable one. The scenery and the geology is simply
fantastic. These photos were taken from our lunch table.

See what I mean about a well kept secret! |
We walked back, refreshed and refuelled. First spot once back at Bel Air was the big
lower swimming pool. Within minutes the
dark clouds gathered and so the 3 PM deluge began. The swimming pool water is lovely in the rain
and we had finished our walk. The
afternoon rain storms seem typical of this season and they clear quickly after
soaking everything.
On our return, Tim was still feeling unwell so we spent the
rest of the day packing for our next leg of the trip tomorrow.
