Decided to go for a swim
first thing in our lovely condo pool. We
are finding basic admin and paper work really takes up quite some time in our
days. It is not like home when you can jump in your car, stock up at Coles and drive home for the great unpack. This is public transport plus walking, back pack shopping!

Sky Train |
We finally left the condo at 10.30
and took the Sky Train from Chit Lom Station (at the other end of our street so very handy) to On Nut Station to buy some
groceries at Tesco. It was once again,
an eye opening shopping experience of guessing what we were buying. Always a bit of fun! I fear the kids are a little too loud in supermarkets but their excitement is uncontainable. The Thais are a gentle and calm people...may be a bit of their culture will rub off onto our kids!

Supermarkets are heaps of fun!
We had lunch in the food court there . I particularly liked the custard and coconut
which was steamed in big cookers. Karl
talked to a Thai man who had been an Aus Aid scholar in 1970’s and studied
Economics at Sydney Uni. Very
interesting. Meanwhile, Tim and Luke
found some game machines to play on and Annika and I wandered past the stalls.

Tim and Luke found the game machines - funnily enough. |

Back
at Chit Lom, Tim played a guitar in a music shop which was a thrill. The others
walked home and Tim and I explored further another shopping mall which has a
food court and lots of little shops. We
wonder how these places ever make a profit when they have so many staff who
seem to stand around doing nothing much most of the time. I bought a Bubble Tea
for 40 Baht ($1.60) – bargain compared to home and Tim enjoyed a frappe from
McDonalds which seem to have similar prices to Australia. The shop displays and street decor
is kitsch and amusing to our eyes, but so quickly, it seems ordinary!

And the Happiness Meter reached infinity! |

Thank you Ronald, Tim is very grateful for his thick shake!
The evening quickly came upon us between trying to encourage the kids to do some school work and doing admin work of our own. Currently trying to resolve a dirty towel issue with airbnb from our last spot. We left the apartment immaculate and put up with quite a few things which needed repair but not urgent and were without Wi-Fi for several days so I thought there would be a bit more give in the system. However, we want to continue with good references for airbnb so we paid up and resolved it quickly.
