1 June 2015 - Walking across the Abbey Road crossing in Beatle style!

Sometimes the pressure of distance education seems a bit overwhelming.  It is quite difficult to travel and make the most of our location and supervise the schoolwork.  It is hard for the kids, especially Tim and Annika who really do have quite a rigorous schedule to follow.  Today, the big kids both had to do maths tests under exam conditions so Karl took Luke out to the local library.  It was really tricky for them to have time to study for the tests as well as fulfill their other assignments and struggle with the frustrations of dodgy internet connections and on-line submissions which don't allow access to the material prescribed.  We are feeling under pressure!  Tim and Annika like to feel they are up to date with all their work and it keeps coming and accumulates if they don't diligently apply themselves.  The days when we travel from one spot to the next do take entire days.  So, I am just saying, life on the road, ain't all a picnic but it is peppered with many good moments and hopefully good life lessons overall.
Lovely if not unusual houses nearby

While Tim and Annika were doing their tests, I was also doing on-line CPD via the learning centre at the hospital where I was working (and intend to go back to).  I rarely have the time to do my own bit of study, but it is essential I fulfill the hours required for registration on an annual basis.

Tests over, and Luke and Karl back home, we had lunch before heading out on our walk to Abbey Road made famous by the Beatles where their recording studio was.  Abbey Road isn't very far from where we are staying. The famous zebra crossing on Abbey Road on their album cover of the same name is still where it nearly 50 years later.

We walked along Abbey Road...may be on the same path as The Beatles!

A keen Beatle's fan had a couple of album covers to show!
There was a small crowd of exuberant Colombians, and some others trying to re-enact the crossing!  The motorists were understanding on the whole but one workers' van wasn't and yelled something about it being a bloody road crossing to which the Colombian guy replied:"Let it be!" and "Have a good day!" which dissipated the driver's anger and off he drove.  It was a bit of fun!

Well, not quite the stance we hoped for...Luke didn't quite get it!

Arty shot!

We were kindly lent the album cover by some other tourists.
We co-operated...
Then, as we really wanted a bit more exercise, we went to Paddington Recreational Ground, which like many big city parks was beautiful, well equipped with play equipment and sports facilities and being enjoyed by quite a crowd of people.  So lovely!  London is well planned as far as parks go and it is great to see everyone really enjoying the outdoor space.

Luke pretending he was in a monastery in Paddington Recreational Ground!

Luke has a very runny nose and seems quite viraemic and the rest of us are feeling just a little under par.  It is good that we don't have to rush around and have our little apartment to retreat to.  It is cool weather with threatening rain and feels quite wintry at times! Although, it is the first day of winter in Australia, summer doesn't officially start until 21 June here so the weather has three weeks to improve!
