The typical September day in North Holland seems to be a bit cool, with clouds varying from white and fluffy to grey and threatening, a few patches of blue, a few drops of rain and a bit of sun...quite similar to Melbourne in early autumn. It is perfect for cycling as you never get too hot and yet you don't need a heavy coat!

I AMSTERDAM! |
After a bit of school the kids and I hopped on the bikes to try to meet
Diane, Karl's sister, who was coming to visit us from Enkhuizen by train
and bike. After a bit of waiting and cruising around, we realised that
we had probably missed her and that she'd taken a different route. It
was an excellent morning for cycling and indeed when we returned, Diane
was already there!

Cuddles with Aunty Di |
After lunch and after the kids had all shared their various
school projects about our travels with her, we all went on a leisurely
10 km circuit of our neighbourhood on our bikes. Such freedom and such
fun to all be on bikes together, sharing a bit of our lives!

This log's worth fighting over! |
Now, in the inky darkness from the window I can see the mirror like river and reflections. The bike riders and runners have retired for the night and all is still. We feel really amazed and so grateful to have found this place!
Such a lovely post about so many lovely things! I especially like the confused sheep.
ReplyDeletegorgeous photo's of a beautiful place :) Aunty Di looks like she's trying to do a runner from the police, ha!
