It is Wednesday again and so as it is also market day in Piegut Pluviers AND a sensationally sunny day, at Annika's request we thought we would drive back there.

"Our" cows with their offspring |
Tim, Annika and I went for an early morning walk and noticed 7 calves in the paddock of 10 cows now enjoying the spring sunshine. We really tried hard to leave earlier but it was still 10 AM before with had Luke ready to head off to the market. The difference in the number of people between a fortnight ago and today was amazing! The summer crowds and warmer weather gave a different atmosphere to the whole place.

Fudge stall at Piegut Pluviers Market |
As usual in markets, there is a fair amount of imported cheap goods but
in the midst of all that are artisan cheese makers, bakers, local produce and
woodturners. The vendors readily give samples of these wares and I
particularly enjoyed the cheeses. We decided on some very fresh bakery
goods for morning tea which were delectable.

We had a wander around the back streets, in the shade of the forest. I so enjoyed peeking into the gardens and surrounds of the properties and imagining who might live there and for how many generations.

Acute angle of buildings...but why? |
We wended our away through the streets in a sort of loop
and ended up at the ruins of the Tower there and enjoyed scrambling all
over it again! The flowers randomly growing in amongst the old rocks
and steps added charm.

I was glad their heads didn't get stuck! |
Karl and the boys hadn't seen inside the church before so why not?! For the most, churches seem to be open throughout the day. It is lovely that anyone can go in anytime and find peace and a refuge. We rarely see other people in the old churches we enter.

Luke and Karl discussing the points of interest. |
We were home in time for lunch, more school time, trying to get ahead a little so we have a bit more freedom in Paris to be tourists, and homestyle haircuts all round (except Annika who had a lovely haircut in the back blocks of Bangkok).
Luke is as happy as could be once his friends arrive home from school and their endless games of imagination and goodies versus baddies continue. He will so miss their company. The long evenings in France seduce us to believe it is earlier than we think, so we eat later, go to bed later and generally forget any particular schedule. However will we adapt to city life again?!

Tim and the lone pine |
And we can't possibly miss an opportunity for an evening walk through the countryside. Happy chatting (and occasional stick wielding by Luke - must be a boys' thing to do but potentially dangerous) and arriving home about 15 minutes before darkness takes over...a nice routine in this lovely environment.
